Supervision

As part of a community order the court can impose a supervision requirement for up to three years. This requires the offender to attend regular appointments with their offender manager (or someone acting on their behalf) to undertake work that will make them less likely to re-offend.

Typically supervision can involve:

  • work to promote personal and behavioural change
  • monitoring and reviewing patterns of behaviour
  • work to increase motivation and compliance with other Requirements
  • support of learning taking place on a Programme, Activity, or other Requirement
  • counselling
  • modelling pro-social (i.e. good) behaviour and work to increase job prospects or skill levels, for example access to Skills for Life provision
