Job Title: Probation Service Officer
Location: Bedford and Luton
Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week)

Salary: £19,909 per annum (pay award pending)

We have a number of vacancies for Probation Service Officers (PSOs) to work in Bedford and Luton. As a PSO you would work with Probation Officers and your general duties would include:
- supervising offenders individually
- working with offenders in group work
- dealing with men and women on supervision on court orders
- maintaining accurate and current case files (paper & electronic)
- helping to prepare court reports on individual defendants
- working with offenders in custody and following their release from prison
- assessing risk, implementing and reviewing sentence plans
You will need to be able to:
- work with offenders to change their thinking and behaviour
- communicate well, both verbally and in writing, with a range of different personalities
- use computer based systems for accurate and timely input and retrieval of information
- adapt your working style to the needs of the moment
- form positive relationships with both offenders and colleagues
- organise and manage a fluctuating workload successfully
- act on your own initiative, as appropriate
- demonstrate an awareness and respect for the diverse population of Bedfordshire
- show a commitment to your learning and development
For some posts there may be a requirement for some evening and/or weekend working.
